Cheryl Lynn Ellis

Born November 12, 1948, Sherry lived her life with determination, strength, and a strong commitment to the people and causes that mattered most to her. She was loved and respected by her family and friends, who will especially remember her smile, quick wit, hard-working spirit, and drive.

Sherry was a proud Marine veteran, and her devotion to the Marine community continued long after her military service. She was actively involved with the Molly Marines and Marine Corps League and proudly served as Quartermaster, a responsibility that became a true passion for her.

She leaves behind her children, Krista Ellis and Paul Ellis; grandchildren, Rachel Henri and Emily Lapraire; sister, Evelyn Cooper; and many beloved relatives and friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Matthew “Matt” Ellis; her parents, Madeline and Oswald”Doc” Byrd; and her sister, Deborah “Debbie” Keller and infant son Robert Andrew Ellis.

She will be laid to rest at the Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana.

Her dedication, strength, humor, and love for family and friends leave a lasting memory that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
