Charles Roger Vaught born on January 1st, 1947 in Baton Rouge La, died on May 6th, 2025 after a prolonged struggle with cancer. A loving father, dedicated friend, and selfless person, Charlie lived a life of quiet conviction. An educator, realtor, respiratory therapist, CVS Hurricane Hero, actor, cyclist and trickster, Charlie left an indelible mark on everyone he met. With a wry sense of humor, a belief, in the inherent goodness of his fellow man, and profound empathy for the misunderstood, Charlie embraced, accepted, and fully enjoyed the life he lived. He passed away at St. Tammany Hospital, the institution he dedicated over twenty years of his life to improving. He was guided in death by the very people he trained as health care professionals. He was surrounded by the people who loved him. He was kind, wry, and wise until the very end.
Charlie was a committed member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Mandeville. He is survived by his son Andy, his grandson Arthur, his sister Christine, his nieces Amy and Caroline, his ex-wife Susan, and by Colleen Lacy. A celebration of life will be held on June 2 at St. Michaels’ Episcopal Church, visitation at 10 am, service at 11 am, with reception in the Parish Life Center to follow.
