On Thursday May 25, 2023, Carroll F. Comeaux, Sr, age 90, died surrounded by his daughters and son in law. Carroll was predeceased by his 1st wife, the mother of his children, Camille D. Comeaux, wife Yve Phillips, his parents, Sabin and Carrie Comeaux, as well as his 5 brothers, Robert, Raymond, Floyd, Joseph, and Charles, also his son in law Arthur Eshleman.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela C. Eshleman, Frances C. DeCorte (Ross) and his son Carroll F. Comeaux, Jr. (Corrine).
Also survived by his sisters in law, Jan Vanderbrook (Don) and Alice D. Fleming.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
Carroll lived life to the fullest. He is a proud Marine who served in the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He loved music, dancing and the ladies. Carroll retired from Tulane University where he was employed for over 40 years. He was also a long time member of the Krewe of Thoth. He left the Krewe for health reasons having served as the longest tenured Float Lieutenant.
The family thanks the nurses and staff at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home for the care shown to him in his last few years. Thanks also to Heart of Hospice and Nurse Jessica for taking care of him those last 2 weeks.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2023 at 12:00 Noon from Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 1230 S. Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70118. Visitation at church beginning Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
Inurnment will be priave in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA .
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Disabled American Veteran or Wounded Warriors.
