Carmen Maria Zelaya passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Chateau Living Center in Kenner, LA. Loving mother of Josie Fontaine Lejune (husband, A.J.), Joe Fontaine (wife, Susan), and Raquel Fontaine Carver (husband, Charlie). Grandmother of Adam and Candise Lejune, and Christopher Fontaine (wife, Monica). Great-grandmother of April, Emma, Isabel, and Ava. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Zelaya, and by many loving siblings. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Ms. Carmen was a feisty and strong-willed woman who was passionately dedicated to her family and friends. She was an avid gardener who could bring life to anything. When she wasn’t in her garden she was cooking for anybody and everybody. Ms. Carmen was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner, LA. Father Miles will be saying a Mass for her on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 PM. Because of her lifelong love of the Saints, Ms. Carmen’s life will be celebrated at Fairfield Plantation Oaks Clubhouse, 10188 River Rd., St. Rose, LA 70087, on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM while cheering on the Saints. All are welcome. Be sure to wear your “Who Dat” shirt. In lieu of flowers, come prepared to share your fondest memory of Ms. Carmen.
