

Billy Harmon Scarborough, Lt Col, USAF, Ret. Born August 4, 1932 in Pointe Coupee Parish passed away May 28, 2026 in Baton Rouge, LA. Raised in New Roads, LA and graduated in May 1950 from Poydras as class salutatorian. A 1954 graduate with distinction from SLI Lafayette. While there, he served as President of Phi Theta Rho fraternity on the Inter Fraternity Council and was elected to serve on the Student Council as representative of the College of Commerce. He was honored by being named to WHO’s WHO in American Colleges and Universities, Blue Key National Honor Society and awarded an Honors Scholarship to the Tulane University of Law. He also was named an Outstanding Military Student upon being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the USAF. He entered the USAFin in June 1954 and served on active duty until retirement in November 1978. He served in numerous personnel, administrative and instructional duties throughout his career and was awarded the National Defense Service medal, several Air Force commendation medals and Air Force Meritorious Service medals, as well as the Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacqueline (Jackie), son Stephen, step-daughter Vicki Aucoin and step-son Steven Carradine, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Walter (Mac), Donald (Don) and sisters, Betty Jo Serio and Carol Bowman.
His body will be cremated and remains placed in the National War Memorial Cemetery, Port Hudson, LA following a brief military ceremony.
