Arthur G Dentler

Born in Los Angeles, California, Art’s parents, Arthur C. and Rose Dentler, later moved the family to Houston, Texas, where Art spent much of his life building a legacy of love, hard work, and faith. On March 16, 2025, Art dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized at Church of the King in Mandeville, Louisiana.

Art proudly served his country as an Army Paratrooper from March 1954 until his honorable discharge in March 1957. Shortly after his military service, he married the absolute love of his life, Shirley Lowrie, in 1958. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage, raised four children, loved to travel, and truly lived life to the fullest.

Art enjoyed a long, highly respected, and successful career in the auto industry. Deeply involved in his community, he was a Master Mason with The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas and served for decades as a proud committee member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In his earlier years, Art’s love for horses saw him owning and riding them frequently.

An outdoorsman at heart, Art loved being near the water. He spent countless hours boating and took great joy in teaching his children how to water ski. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, sharing many unforgettable adventures with his son-in-law, Mike Blake. Art was a passionate cook who loved all types of food, though a good seafood or Mexican dish always topped his list.

Above all, Art will be remembered for his extraordinary sense of humor. The ultimate king of "one-liners," he possessed a rare gift for filling any room he entered with genuine laughter.

Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Dentler; his parents, Arthur C. and Rose Dentler; and his brother, Franklin Dentler.

His memory will be cherished forever by his surviving family: his children, Ronald Dentler, Dale Dentler (Angela), Ramona Blake (Mike), and Byron Dentler (Heather Theriot Dentler); his grandchildren, Harrison Dentler, Hannah Gesford, Haley Peterson, Hope Dentler, Alisa Blake, and Beau Blake (Cherie); his sister, Shirley Dentler; and his brother, Micky Dentler.

A private celebration of life will be held in his honor at Church of the King on August 28th.
