Ardell is survived by his spousal equivalent, Claire Sommers, two brothers, Wayne in Colorado and Kirk in California. As well as multiple nieces, nephews and great nephews. And children Tyler and Kelsey from a first marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Bertie, and his sister, Kathy.
He made the move to New Orleans in 1976. Ardell loved his adopted city of New Orleans and fully embraced all of its quirkiness; including festivals, live music and even the politics. He asks that the next time you enjoy a beer, wine or cocktail please celebrate his life with this Irish toast, “Merry met and merry part. I drink to thee with all my heart”.
Ardell demonstrated his Midwestern work ethic; doing his very best at every job he held. His work history includes The Adherence Group (TAG) dealing with maritime carriers, Freeman Services installing conventions and most recently Temps Today.
Ardell has requested there be no funeral service but donations to the Friends of City Park would be greatly appreciated. https://www.friendsofcitypark.com/donate/ or by mail at 1 Palm Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124.
We would like to thank the Oncology staff at the University Medical Center as well as the staff at Lakeside Hospice for their kindness and caring. Cremation services are being provided by the Neptune Society.
