

He was born on October 19, 1942 in New Orleans where he grew up with his parents Josephine and Joseph, as well as his four brothers, Emile, Cirino (CJ), Vic, and David.
He graduated from Southeastern with a degree in education, and graduated from Loyola with a master’s in counseling.
He worked as an assistant football coach, head track coach, driver’s ed instructor, and athletic director at Chalmette High School for 28 years. He also worked as a camp director at Owl Day Camp in St. Bernard. In addition, during his down-time, he worked part-time in real-estate for Century 21 and Prudential. In retirement, he became his own boss, buying and selling a variety of antiques.
He was recognized for his hard work multiples times throughout the years, including awards from the Leukemia Society Louisiana Chapter in 1993, the Joe Gemelli Fleur de Lis Award from the New Orleans Saints in 2014, and the Elphage Caillouette Award from St. Bernard Parish Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
Anthony was actively involved in his work for the New Orleans Saints for over 40 years as a chain gang member, and later, a chain gang manager. He was a huge fan of being outdoors, especially fishing and boating. He liked going to auctions all over the South. He enjoyed going to church and Bible Study to expand his faith. He loved spending time at his camp in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, his home away from home, where he enjoyed many outings on his party barge, boiling crawfish, and spending time with his friends, family, and three beloved pet Chihuahuas, Marty, Molly, and Manny.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine and his father, Joseph Piazza.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Von Behren, his daughter, Lisa Piazza Babin, her husband Dean Babin, and his three grandchildren, Christian, Gabriel, and Isabella Babin.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life mass at St. Angela Merici Church (901 Beverly Garden Drive) in Metairie, Louisiana on Friday, November 17th at 1 P.M.
