Andre Joseph Roques Jr.

He was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Metairie (then Kenner) after he married. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 56 years, Joy Ann Benoit Roques, his father, Andre Joseph Roques, Sr., mother, Doris Elizabeth Ruddock Roques, brother, Wayne Joseph Francis Roques, and numerous aunts and uncles. Andre is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Benoit Roques, son-in-law, Charles Paul Blanchard, grandchildren, Madeline Roques Blanchard and Charles Andre Blanchard, son, Andre Joseph Roques, III, and brother-in-law Ronald Benoit.

Andre graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1960, after which he attended LSU where he became a Theta Xi. He was a claims and risk manager for Fireman’s Fund, Schwegmann Brothers Giant Supermarkets, Standard Coffee Co., and Reily Foods Co., and ran his own process service company. Andre played as hard as he worked. He obtained his pilot’s license and flew in the 1970’s. He fished and hunted as often as he could and topped it off with a round of golf… unless it was football season, in which case he couldn’t miss an LSU or Saints game. Andre loved riding in Endymion and was a krewe member and float lieutenant for 20+ years. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church for many years where he served on the Vestry as Senior Warden, started the coffee many Sunday mornings, coordinated and cooked for the Breakfast Sunday ministry, handled the food for the Parish Picnic, and fed many his homemade chili every October during the annual St. Augustine’s pumpkin patch.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 3412 Haring Rd., Metairie, Louisiana. on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 AM in Byrd Hall. The service will begin in the sanctuary at 11:00 AM and end with the committal of ashes at the church’s memorial garden. Everyone is invited to join us and share Andre stories after the service during a luncheon reception in Byrd Hall.
