Amy was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was born on September 20, 1960 in Laflore, Mississippi; she was the oldest daughter of Betty and Lynn Bayless. The family moved to the New Orleans area in 1966. Amy was a 1978 graduate of Grace King High School in Metairie.
Amy married William “David” Hoffman on April 12, 1980. They made their home in Metairie and enjoyed almost 45 years of marriage. They raised three children. Amy’s life was full with her children’s school, cheerleading, and sports activities. She loved to cook and always made family and holiday gatherings very special. As her children married and had children, Amy embraced her role as grandmother “GiGi” to five grandchildren. She was always ready to help as needed and continued to enjoy being a devoted fan while watching her grandchildren’s sports and extra-curricular activities.
Amy was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling, especially getaways to the mountains, and spending time with family and friends. She was a retired administrator from the Jefferson Parish School System.
Amy is survived by her husband David; her children Jennifer Dorsey (Tommy) of Independence, La, Rachel Naquin (Brad) and Jason Hoffman (Kasey) of Ponchatoula; and her grandchildren Seth, Aubrey, Ryder, Colt, and Harleigh. She is also survived by her mother Betty Ellis Bayless, her younger sister Kellye Bayless Lukas, and other extended family members. Amy was predeceased by her father Lynn Bayless who passed away in 1981.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 5800 Canal Blvd in New Orleans.
