Agnes Lawson Croom, who lived a joyful, abundant life, passed away peacefully into our Lord's loving arms on January 26, 2019. Mrs. Croom was the beloved wife of the late Kennedy Louis Croom, Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen C. Nicholson, (John,) Kennedy Louis Croom, Jr., (Elizabeth) and Norman James Croom. (April.) She is survived by grandchildren Anne Elizabeth, John Wesley IV, William Cameron Nicholson, Kristie N. LaPish, Ryan James, Kennedy Louis, III, Kayla Michelle and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Croom and Shannon C. Dryer. She also leaves behind her adored great grandchildren: Ashley Alexis Miles, Evan Patrick Nicholson, Sophia Rose Vinet, Lali Fox LaPish, Caroline Marie Nicholson, Anabella Agnes Nicholson, Evan James Croom and Evelyn Juliann Croom.
Agnes, affectionately know as Sugar Baby, Sis, and Mamaw, is predeceased by her parents, William James and Agnes Queen Lawson, her son, Wayne Gerard Croom as well as her brother, James Ellwood Lawson.
A native New Orleanian, Mrs. Croom was a 1942 graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School. After graduation, she was employed by the Whitney National Bank and as an accountant for the United States Navy. Agnes was an avid reader in which most of her spare time was devoted to reading as many titles as possible. She also loved all the little animals and appreciated the joy they always brought to her life
After marriage, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and doting great-grandmother. She was the matriarch of the family and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 9th from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 146 4th Street, Westwego, La.
Her family will receive visitors from 9:30am until Mass time at 11:00 am.
Burial will be private.
