

William "Bill" Howard Bowden, 79, died peacefully on August 21,2025 in Lawrence, Ks. Bill was born November 13,1945 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Calvin Bowden and Mildred Stewart. His family soon moved to Salina, Kansas where Bill grew up and graduated from high school. He attended Kansas State University, studying architecture. Bill enlisted in the Army in 1966. He served honorably for 3 years, being discharged in1969. He moved to Wichita, Ks and began his career in commercial construction as an Estimator. There he met his wife to be, Sherry Grover, and they were joined in marriage November 6, 1971. After building a life together, they joyfully welcomed their son, Paul, into their lives. The family moved to Lenexa, Ks where Bill continued his work as an Estimator. In 2012, Bill and Sherry purchased Z’s Divine Espresso in Lawrence, Ks., which is still operated by his wife and son. They later built a home outside Baldwin City, Ks. where Bill retired. Bill’s favorite hobbies were sailing, airplanes, motorcycles and building things. He was a loving husband and father and loved getting together with his extended family.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sherry, son, Paul, sister Mary (Dennis) Fisher, Sister-in-Law Delores (Tom) Talbott, and his nieces and nephews.
