A vibrant artist, Victoria was witty and full of life, with an elegant designer eye and robust vocabulary. She loved dancing, gardening, jazz & live music, language learning, and finding treasures at the flea market to upcycle into jewelry. She made community in New England and Kansas City and was a beloved neighbor, friend, mentor, and family member. She enjoyed traveling in her 1966 Airstream trailer with her husband, Tim, exhibiting her jewelry at arts & craft fairs across the East Coast. She created a thriving jewelry business and was a talented visual artist.
Victoria’s homes were resplendent works of art in themselves with lush gardens that she landscaped. Her homes in Nashua and Kansas City showcased an expansive art collection that included her and Tim’s own works, as well as works by friends and respected folk artists. She loved welcoming people over for porch hangs, dinner parties, open studios, and other gatherings. She took special pride in the Victorian home she and Tim made together in Nashua.
Victoria will be remembered and loved by those who knew her for her fighting spirit. After a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2006, she did not let the disease define her, slowing its progression with a commitment to keeping her brain and body active. She was fluent in English, Hebrew, Spanish, and French, and was diligent in her nightly language study. She was a cherished member of the Kansas City Parkinson’s community, where she danced, boxed, and led support groups.
Victoria is survived by her husband and life partner, Tim Desclos; son, Zaaló (né Zachary Brandon); three brothers, Jamie, Jonny, and Charlie Pious; close friends, Amee Sweet-McNamara and Cynthia Schroer; mentees, Justine Ramdas and Magdalene Pattantyus; ex-husband and friend, Marlo (Michael Brandon); step-daughter, Deb Bentman; and a large community of neighbors, friends, fellow fighters, cousins, nephews, in-laws, and step-family.
