Dr. Susie Strode, 57 of Jefferson City, Missouri passed on May 28, 2017 at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas after a lifelong battle of Fredrick’s Ataxia . Susie was born on December 14, 1959 to Jerri and Bill Strode in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended CMSU and UMKC receiving her PhD from UMKC. Susie taught at UMKC and also Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Susie was blessed with a brilliant mind. She authored several books and many short stories and articles. Despite her disability she traveled to many conferences and spoke on a number of topics sharing her talents with others. She loved all things cheerful and bright especially the color pink. Her sharp wit and humor was enjoyed by everyone around her. Susie was a magnet attracting other people and making their lives brighter. Susie is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Everett and Leona Maness, her father, William Lewis Strode, her sister Stacey Lynn Zapien and her longtime partner and love, Tom Cobble, of Jefferson City. She is survived by her mother, Jerri Strode, of Overland Park, KS, her brother, Steven Strode, of Kansas City, MO, her aunt and uncle, Ray and Sheri Moore, of Overland Park, KS, her niece, Lyndsey Gonder, of Wellsville, KS, her nephew, Jordan Zapien, of Kansas City, KS and special family members Curt Strode, Ginny Wagner, Stacey Moore and many family members and friends. The family wish to thank the wonderful staff at Villa St. Francis for the tender loving care Susie was given during her stay with them. Visitation, Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 1st Christian Church, 327 E Capitol Ave, Jefferson City, Missouri from 1:30-2:00 p.m. Memorial Services following at 2:00 p.m.with inurnment at Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.
