Sheila K. Majors

Sheila K. Majors (Chanay), 76 died peacefully on September 4, 2026. Sheila was born on August 14,1950 in Lawrence, Kansas to Delbert and Alta Chanay. She graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1968.

Also in 1968, she married Michael W. Majors. During their almost 58 years of marriage, the couple lived in Oklahoma, Colorado, Japan, Utah, and then back to Kansas for the remainder of Sheila's life.

Sheila was a working wife with careers as a paralegal, several administrative positions, high school registrar and university registrar. She was a long-time member of Lighthouse Presbyterian Church and was active in her faith.

Sheila and Mike had three children, and she was very active in their social, educational, and extracurricular activities throughout their school years.

Sheila enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, her rescue pups, and almost any activity involving kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dwight Chanay and Tim Chanay.

She is survived by her husband, Mike, her children Brad Majors, Brandi Majors, and Chloe Majors, ten grandchildren, her brother Doug Chanay and his wife Judy, her sister Teresa Kennington and her husband Dan, and her sister-in-law Karen Chanay.

The Memorial Service for Sheila will take place on October 4 at 2pm. It will be held at Lighthouse Presbyterian Church at 1402 E. 303rd St., in Paola, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Lighthouse Church at the address above, University of Kansas Health System Hospice at 20920 W. 151st St. Ste 204 Olathe Kansas 66061, or, of course, to your own favorite charity.

Sheila's family would like to thank the KU Med Hospice team for their outstanding care and compassion, her wonderful church family for all of the care and support they provided, and to all who took the time to pray, text, call, to stop by to pay respects or to bring meals. Everyone has been so supportive and we are grateful.
