Sally Ruth Habiger, age 69, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully March 7th, 2017. She was born to Constance Ruth Lytle Owens and Walter John Habiger. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1965. In 1966 married Kenneth Gene Rogers. Their marriage produced three children, Leslie, Christina and Lisa. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother , Leslie, her stepfather, Glenn Owens and her beloved dog, Ruthie. She leaves behind her sisters Sylvia Roeser (Ray), Louise Hatcher (Titus) and a brother John Owens (Melody). Her Children, Leslie Neill (Josh), Christina Rogers, and Lisa Lane (Mikus). In addition, she has six grandchildren, six nieces and two nephews. Sally will be missed for her infectious smile, her artistic talent and her grand sense of humor. She never met a person whom she could not befriend and thought that everyone in life should be loved regardless of race or gender or background. No matter how Sally was feeling, she always was able to make other people be at ease with kind words such as “you are beautiful” or “what a pretty smile”. Sally loved to visit parks, loved children, and little dogs. She was a talented artist and could draw portraits perfectly. She once painted Alice In Wonderland and Snow White mural on her daughters’ bedroom wall. She loved to watch hummingbirds that would come to visit. Her favorite flower was the purple iris. Sally did not want a funeral but instead a celebration of life. The celebration of life will be held in her honor Saturday, March 11th at the home of her daughter, Leslie Neill. Even in her last days, she was able to make us smile despite knowing what was to come. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three daughters and her granddaughters, Madelyne and Julia. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Lukes North hospital for their efforts in trying to save her life as well as their compassion. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Although her stay was brief, you not only brought Sally to peace, you brought the family to peace as well. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Sally’s honor to one of three organizations, St. Luke’s Hospice House, Alzheimer’s Association or the FOPAS (Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter).
