Bob was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1962-1965 in Virginia.
Bob graduated from Amherst College in 1970 and went on to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst earning a Masters Degree in Public Health Administration. His early career was in regulations in Western Massachusetts. He then served as the Chief Operating Officer at Western Massachusetts Hospital. While at Western Massachusetts Hospital, Bob started one of the first Hospices in the country to serve AIDS patients. Bob was instrumental in establishing Applewood at Amherst and served as its first Executive Director. He continued his career in retirement communities, the last facility being Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Missouri.
Bob was a volunteer at the World War I Museum and he enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-seven year, Noeline (Noel), his brother Captain USN (Ret) Raymond Woolrich, his son and his wife, Sean and Becky Woolrich; daughter Meaghan and her husband Robert Pogorek; his grandchildren: Caitlin and Private James Connor Woolrich USM of North Carolina; Elisabeth and Emma Pogorek of Olathe, Kansas; Samantha, Ashley, Kimberly, Kailey, and Ryan Yates of North Caroline and two great grandsons, Robin Woolrich and Bryson Yates, and several nieces and nephews.
