Robert Dale Witt; aka Honda Bob of Blue Springs Mo passed away on Wednesday August 9th in North Kansas City Hospice House In KCMO at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 20 days. He was born on December 21st, 1949 to Norman and Doris Witt. He had one brother Gary Witt.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two children; Sheila and Richard. He is survived by three daughters; Missy Witt of Blue Springs Mo, Dana (Smith) and Hubie Drennan Of Blue Summit Mo, Venus (Vanessa) and Benny Thomas of Ava Mo, seven grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, his Visions Motorcycle Club brothers & their families, and a host family and friends.
Honda Bob finished high school and immediately began working for The Kansas City Star Newspaper in their mailroom until his retirement. Known as Honda Bob by his friends and Papa Tattoo by his grandchildren he was a generous and loving father and grandfather and friend to everyone who knew him. Honda Bob loved to ride his motorcycle. He looked forward riding to Sturgis bike rally in South Dakota every year. He rode his bike to every single one except the 50th. The previous year he’d been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident coming home from Sturgis. He was still not quite healed enough to ride to Sturgis that next year but there was NOTHING that would keep him from making it to the big 50th, so he took his Cadillac.
He loved going to bike rallies and camp outs all over the country. He also enjoyed leather working. Any given weekend you’d find him at a race, show, or campout somewhere set up with his leather stuff talking to the young ones about sobriety and Jesus. Honda Bob was a charter member of Visions Motorcycle Club, a brotherhood of clean and sober bikers based out of KCMO established in 1985. For many years He was very active in recovery and helping people who wanted recovery whether it be thru Visions, prison ministry, while doing his leatherwork, or while hosting a bible study in his home for over 20 years. He was generous with his time, wisdom and even his humor. There was no length Bob wouldn’t go for anyone who wanted to make a positive change in their lives, be ye biker, banker, doctor, an inmate, or even just a guy off the streets. Bob’s home and heart was always open and he has helped countless people by doing so; maybe even some that nobody else would. He was loved by so many people whose lives he touched. He was grateful for each one of them.
He believed without a doubt that God sent his son Jesus to die for him! He was set free in recovery and thru being born again thru Christ Jesus. Honda Bob knew that if God could clean him up and use him; that he could do it for ANYBODY! He made it his mission to make heaven crowded. He never missed a moment to share Jesus with somebody! He never went anywhere without his pockets full of little cards that said “He would’ve ridden a Harley”. He’d hand them out to people of all ages and ALL walks of life. And then he’d tell them all about Jesus and what Christ had done for him.
