Phillip Ray Gibson, 71, Independence, died May 14, 2026, at Rosewood in Independence after a long illness. He was born January 25, 1955, to Robert Glenn and Jeneva (Hix) Gibson, both of whom predeceased him.
He graduated in 1972 from Fort Osage High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his law degree from UMKC. He did his best to help others, always with a wonderful sense of humor.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jill (Craddock) Gibson; his brother, Richard Gibson, Bethany; two sons, Charles A. Gibson (Raven), Blue Springs, and Matthew Penprase (Malorie), Independence; one daughter, Lacey Nolte (Travis), Independence, five grandchildren and one god-daughter.
