Mildred Anita Shank

Mildred Anita (Fearn) Shank, 87, passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Santa Marta Retirement Community on Wednesday, September 12.

Mildred “Millie” Shank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Lansing, Kansas where she graduated high school. She was a devoted mother of seven children. In addition to raising a large family, Millie worked fulltime until age 76. She was a happy and positive person, known for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. In her adult life she lived in Leavenworth KS, Springfield VA, Chattanooga TN, and the Kansas City area. Her last three years she lived at Santa Marta retirement community where she immensely enjoyed life with her friends. Millie’s final request was for her children to “miss me a little, but not a lot; turn your energy to doing good deeds for others.”

Millie is survived by her siblings Forrest Parsons, Terry Parsons, and Linda Noyes; and her children Connie Aaron, Kenny Fearn, Theresa Fearn, Danny Fearn, David Fearn, Sharon Karczewski, and Bill Shank. She was an immensely proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 19 at Santa Marta Chapel, 13800 W 116th Street, Olathe, Kansas 66062. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Amethyst Place, 2735-A Troost, Kansas City, Missouri 64109, PH 816.231.8782, www.amethystplace.org
