Michael Thompson

Michael Eugene Thompson, 71, of Independence, Missouri passed on October 1, 2019 at North Kansas City Hospital. Michael was born on October 4, 1947 in Independence, Missouri to Lloyd Eugene and Katherine (Paschall) Thompson. He graduated in 1966 from Truman High School and went on to spend 16 years the U.S. Army.

Michael loved serving and was the Class Reunion Director for Truman High School, William Chrisman High School and Van Horn High School. During his time in the military, he earned over eleven medals including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He also had a passion for photography.

Michael is predecease by his parents Lloyd “Bud” Thompson and Katherine O. Thompson, son, Tony Mike Thompson and granddaughter, Alizea Marie Thompson. He is survived by his children, Tanya Sue, Jesse, Andrew, Armond, Robert, Sebastian, Morgan and JR (Mike Jr.) and his 23 grandchildren, brother, Louis R. Thompson and sister, Cynthia A. Lindberg.

Services to honor Michael will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, 2:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas.
