Mike’s departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
Born on April 17, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, Mike was the beloved son of Betty (Ross) and Kenneth Anderson. From an early age, he was known by his childhood nickname "Cracker," a testament to his lively spirit and zest for life. Mike grew up surrounded by a loving family, including his sister Penny Virden (Clarence), and his brothers from another mother, Steve Parker and Mark Moretina. His close circle of friends included Pat, Paula, Joni, Marlys, Jerry, Pam, Laura, and wonderful neighbors Tom and Linda, as well as Cheryl. Each of these individuals played a significant role in his life, reflecting the deep connections he fostered throughout his years.
Mike’s passions were as diverse as his friendships. He was particularly proud of his Jet Boat and his cherished truck, and he found great joy in restoring old trucks with friends and family. His love for these hobbies was matched only by his generosity and willingness to help others, leaving an indelible mark on those around him.
Mike worked alongside his father at Anderson Service Company, later with C and G Service Company, and he eventually retired from Myer Brothers. His career was a testament to his dedication and hard work, and he was respected by many for his contributions in the field.
Mike is survived by his sister Penny Virden (Clarence) son Casey Carpenter (Eliza), whom he deeply admired for his accomplishments. He also leaves behind a legacy of family that includes his grandkids Astrid and Gabriel, nephew Jason Habersat (Jenny), niece Jaime Habersat (Troy), great nieces and nephews Alexis, Justin, Hailey, Jessie (Zane), James, and Dallas and great-great nieces and nephews Kaidyn, Macy, Ava, Winston, Raelynn, Maverick, Remington, and Saint. His pride in his family was evident in everything he did, and his love for them was unwavering.
Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his dear friends Mark Moretina, his beloved dogs Pebbles, Maggie, and Holley. Their absence is deeply felt, and Mike’s reunion with them brings a measure of solace.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the Raymore Christian Church on Aug 17, 2024, at 2pm. All who knew Mike are invited to join in honoring his remarkable life and sharing in the memories that made him so special. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Mike’s honor.
Mike Anderson’s life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and selflessness. Though he will be greatly missed, his spirit and the memories he created will forever remain a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him.
