Martha was born Christmas Day 1938 to Oba and Alice Garrison at their family home in Myrtle, Missouri. She was the youngest of six children. When Martha was six years old her family moved from the rural life in Myrtle to Kansas City, Missouri. Martha married Virgil Lovell in 1956, they were married for nine years and had three children David, Duane, and Valerie. Martha married Toby Watts in 1972 and had her baby boy James. Martha and Toby divorced after 4 years and she remained single for the rest of her life.
Martha held many titles over the years, including but limited to Welder, Waitress, Cosmetic Saleswoman, hospitality specialist, receptionist, school bus driver, and more. Martha was a city girl with country roots. She loved having a large garden, canning, baking, and cooking for her family.
There was no doubt Martha loved her family. She was at the hospital for the birth of all her grandchildren and stayed with them for weeks to help. She loved when everyone gathered for Christmas and Thanksgiving and had a special fondness for large family reunions in the summer. Martha loved taking her grandchildren camping and fishing.
Martha was raised in The Church of God of Prophecy and was a member of the Assembly of God in adulthood. Martha firmly believed in the power of God’s word and Prayer. She left behind notebooks filled with names and prayers she prayed for her family and friends spanning years.
Martha leaves an incredible legacy of love and character behind.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie Ann Kynion-Minihan and husband John Minihan of Overland Park, Ks, and her son James Brian Watts of Springfield, Mo, daughter-in-law Karen Lovell. Grandchildren Jack and Kara Kynion, Trevor and Katelyn Ramos, Amelia Kynion, Benjamin and Ellie Kynion, Abigail Kynion, Chris and Amanda Williams, Stephen and Rachel Williams, Kalvin and Michelle Piper, Erin Lovell, Race Watts, Nichelle Watts, Cynarra Watts, as well as seven Great grandchildren.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents Oba and Alice Garrison. Siblings Joyce Taylor, Geneva Bears, Mary Hosselton, Oba Garrison II, and Vern Garrison. Sons David Lovell and Duane Lovell. Son-in-law Jack Kynion II, and nine nieces and nephews. It would be a celebration for the ages when Martha was reunited with her family, especially the sons she had missed so dearly.
Celebration of Life will be held on 2:00 pm Sunday, June 4th at Hope Alive Church, 9675 159th St., Overland Park, KS 66221
