MarGene Hamer, 89, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024. Born April 1, 1935, in Logan, UT, to Amos Willliam and Enid Bullen (Harris) Bair. MarGene spent her childhood and school years in Richmond, UT. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1953. She always wanted to see more of the world, so MarGene moved to Sacramento, CA soon after graduation. While there she met and married Lt. Breeden P. Hamer, Jr. of Clio, SC in 1955. They had two children, Jeff and Mary. MarGene, Breeden, and the kids lived the Air Force life moving across the United States with fourteen stations. She made lifelong friends along the way. They were married for 29 years.
MarGene had a green thumb and kept an array of beautiful plants. She loved golf and when she could no longer play she loved watching it. MarGene always loved family card games but the game of bridge was her passion. She was a skilled and competitive player and a sought-after partner. Margene also loved the challenge of crossword puzzles believing they should always be done in ink.
MarGene enjoyed her career in the oil and gas industry working in Wichita, KS, Portland, OR, Bakersfield, CA, and San Diego, CA. She began as an oil secretary and later worked as a landman. She also had her real estate license and enjoyed being a realtor. She retired in 2006 moving to Rancho Mirage, CA. She loved the desert, sunshine, and clear blue skies. She made cherished friends there. In 2019 MarGene decided it was time to move to Wichita, KS to be closer to and enjoy her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Max Bair and sister Barbara Hall. Her children survive her, Jeff (Terry) Hamer, and Mary (Larry) Moyer; grandchildren, Kurtis (Evie) Marcotte, Erin (Brian) Depperschmidt, Keith(Tricia) Moyer, Alan (Michelle) Hamer, Joseph (Stevee) Hamer; great-grandchildren, Madison, Laken, Mason, Allie and Calvin. Many kind and special people made her life easier in her last few years. Her family will be forever grateful for their help and kindness. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
