Margaret "Zelda" Fisher, 73, of Kansas City, Missouri, made her transition from labor to reward on October 31, 2026. Born September 14, 1953, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the union of Perry and Pearl Thompson, Zelda was a woman whose presence could fill a room, whose laughter was contagious, and whose personality was anything but ordinary.
If you knew Zelda, you knew there was never a dull moment! She had a heart full of love, a sense of humor that could keep you laughing, and a famously unfiltered mouth that made her unforgettable. She didn't always sugarcoat her words, but she certainly knew how to season her food! Her cooking was legendary, her stories were entertaining, and her personality was one you simply couldn't forget.
Zelda enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: listening to her favorite music, playing a competitive game of dominoes, and keeping up with the latest drama on the Housewives. She knew how to enjoy herself and bring laughter into the lives of those around her.
Beyond her humor and lively spirit was a woman with a nurturing heart. For more than 25 years, Zelda dedicated herself to caring for children as a nanny. She poured love, patience, and attention into the little ones entrusted to her care, becoming a special part of many families' lives. Her nurturing spirit touched hearts far beyond her own family.
Above all, Zelda was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love, wisdom, laughter, and unforgettable one-liners created memories that will be treasured for generations. She lived life in her own way, spoke her mind, loved her people, and left a mark that will never be erased.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her three children, Donisha Fisher, Kenneth Fisher, and Charles Fisher Jr; eight grandchildren; her sister, Wanda Faye Bridgeford; sister-in-law, Glenda Jackson; and dear friends, Sonja Hayes, Frances Gilbert, Gracie London-Fowler, and Antee Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fisher; sisters, Dorothy Smith, Estella Thompson, and Alvertena Glover; and brothers, Willie Parks, Clarence Young, and Louis Thompson.
Though Zelda's earthly journey has ended, the memories she created will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and love to those who knew her. Her recipes may be missed, her voice may be silent, and her favorite shows may never be watched quite the same again, but her spirit will forever remain.
Rest peacefully, Zelda. You lived, you loved, you laughed, and you left us with stories we'll be telling for years to come. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and we have gained a lifetime of memories.
Margaret's memory will live on in the stories told around the table, the laughter sparked by her unforgettable words, and the hearts of the children she helped raise.
Her cooking, her humor, and her unmistakable way with words will remain a treasured part of the lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and always remembered with love.
