Laurence Eugene Boles

Laurence (Larry) Eugene Boles, 84, of Lake Havasu City, AZ passed away on December 28, 2024 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. Larry was born on October 30, 1940 to William Eugene Boles and Zelma Parkinson Boles in San Diego, CA.

Larry graduated from South Eugene High School, Eugene, OR in 1959, later joining the Army in 1963 where he served as an E5 Sergeant from 1963-1965. After his career in the Army, Larry went on to study at Long Beach State College, Long Beach, CA where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts in 1971. Following graduation, Larry joined the United Iron Workers Union where he worked for Todd ShipYard (1971-1990) and United Riggers and Erectors (1990 - 2002) as a heavy equipment rigger.

Larry was married to Donita Boles on October 26, 1995. Larry and Donita lived in Huntington Beach, CA until Larry retired in 2002, at which point they relocated to their current residence in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

After retirement, Larry spent his time enjoying his “toys" and several hobbies, including: fishing, boating, sand duning, and racing RC cars. One of his favorite things to do was loading the RV and heading to the Glamis and Dumont sand dunes with his dune buggy, where he enjoyed the sand dunes and spending the evenings with friends at the campsite. Larry was also a member of the Lake Havasu Elks Fishing Club where he served as the Elks Fishing Derby coordinator.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents William and Zelma Boles and his sister Mary Claire Boles-Dutton. He is survived by his wife, Donita Boles of the home; step son Garold Baker and family (Nancy, Katie and Harley); step son, Neil Baker and family (Ranae Ron, Olivia, Scottie, Audrey, Sloan and Ashley).

Larry was very kind and a great friend to everyone he met, always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In honor of Larry’s final wishes, his remains will be spread at a favorite location he requested during a private family ceremony.
