Kory Douglas Collins, Kansas City, MO, passed away unexpectedly on 1/7/2024. Kory was born on 7/5/1973 to Sandra Collins Carr and Kane Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA. Kory graduated from Urbandale High School, Urbandale, IA, in 1991, attended Iowa State University and was currently working in retail in Belton, MO.
Anyone who knew Kory knew that he was kind, loving, and smart. Kory will always be remembered for his love of family, especially his children. He helped raise three amazing children and they were a great source of pride for him. He was amazed at Karma’s new interest in baking, Zach’s determination and entrepreneurship/business goals and Alexa’s educational and career success. Alexa also became his greatest sports buddy, cheering on their beloved Cincinnati Bengals football team, even when they played the Kansas City Chiefs. We will always imagine hearing Kory say: “Who Dey,” “There is no good or bad Karma, just Karma” or “It is, what it is” one more time. Kory loved being a manager and giving young people an opportunity to start a new career. He was not just a boss but role model, leader, and mentor to many. We could not have asked for a better family member and we will miss Kory every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Kory was preceded in death by his father Kane Collins, and is survived by his wife Terri Collins and children Alexa Jones, Zach Gallatin, and Karma Collins. He is survived by his mother Sandra Carr and his local cousins Cameron Collins, Kendi Collins, Bree Dahm and Regan Simpson. He was loved by many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kory enjoyed a large social group of friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, 1/27/2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 at The Martin Event Space, 13440 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
