Hattie Preaster Gomes

Hattie Preaster Gomes, age 89, July 17, 1929 – Nov. 19, 2018 Hattie died with family at her side. Born in Providence, RI Hattie was the matriarch of the “Gomes” family a very caring person of family & friends. She loved to take care of people. Hattie was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and a long time member of the Huntington View Congregation, Providence, RI before she relocated to Kansas City, MO to live with her daughters and became a member of the Blue Hills Congregation.

Hattie was preceded in death by husbands Rawleigh Preaster (the love of her life), Matthew Wallace (2nd husband). Parents: Simplicio & Viola Gomes. Daughter: Rebecca Barnett, Grandson Kenneth Duarte, great-grand Maurice Wilson. Brothers Vernon Gomes, Lamont Gomes, Eugene Gomes. Sisters: Adeline Edwards, Angelina Watkins, Florence Santos, Christina Gomes.

She is survived and will be missed by children: Armeather Gibbs, Hattie Preaster Jones & husband Michael Jones, Rawleigh & Bernadette Preaster, Jennie Preaster. Grand children: Adrienne Gibbs, Norman Gibbs, Toni Williams, Michelle & Charlie Stephens, Rawleigh Preaster Jr., Shayla Preaster, Darman Preaster , Victoria Towobola, T’sey-haye Preaster. Roy & Marcie Langford. 13 great-grand children. 17 great-great grand children. Also survived by Siblings: Eva Gomes, Carolyn & John Seeley, Paulette & Larry Culver and Simplicio Gomes. Many special extended family members and friends. There will be a private viewing for immediate family members.
