Our beloved mother, Gloria Piedra Nuñez, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026. She was born on June 18, 1951, in Glasgow, Montana, to Simon and Severa Piedra. Gloria was a wonderful, kind and loving person to all she knew and cared for. She worked as a migrant worker at a young age to help her parents earn money for the family. As well as helping in raising her brothers and sisters.
On September 25, 1971, she married Raymond Nuñez. Out of their love they had four children in San Antonio, Texas. During their early years of marriage, she worked as a nurse’s aide. In 1989 they moved to Kansas, where she worked as a housekeeper, on a road crew as a heavy machinery operator and later the Durham bus service. Throughout their lives together they worked extremely hard to provide a stable and loving home. Sadly in 2012, they lost their youngest child, Laura. In those final years she left her job to help take care of Laura and her young family.
In Gloria’s later years she was diagnosed with kidney failure and had been in dialysis for the past nine years. Even through her own difficulties she always put family and loved ones before herself. She enjoyed cooking, singing, growing vegetables and collecting Coca-Cola.
She is survived by her three children, Delicia (Robbie) Timm, Sandra (Joseph) Lobato and Raymond (Jenny) Nuñez Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, 2 sisters, 11 nephews and 11 nieces. She is predeceased by Husband, Raymond Nuñez Sr., Daughter Laura (Nuñez) Fletcher, Grandson Austin Timm, Nephew Jacob Piedra, Parents Simon (Severa) Piedra.
