My mother was born in Kellogg, Idaho on December 2, 1937 to Leo and Myrtle (Johnson) Rock. I am very proud of my mom for overcoming a difficult childhood, which showed me her strength and courage. She told us a few stories but nothing like it really was; she was obviously determined to succeed, and she did. She even acquired her own gavel as President of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. Her heart lead her to be very serious as an advocate and supporter of those less fortunate.
With a smile on her face and adventure in her heart my mom would go across the country in her RV visiting family and friends. She also found great joy getting in her Corvette with pedal to the medal watch out Gloria was on her way!
I will speak more personable now about our mother, but I am sure many of these feelings will be the same for my brothers. I am so very lucky and blessed that my mother came to live with me during the last months of her life, and fortunate enough to spend some quality time with her the four years prior. Those I met along the way praised my mom for her tender kindness, referring to her as a dear friend. She will be missed by all those that knew her, as she was outgoing and charismatic. She had charm and elegance, even as she endured a great deal of pain in the last few years of her life due to health issues. Even in her passing she looked so beautiful and refined as our Lord Savior took her home.
Our mother taught us many good values but one that stands out from my childhood is there was no favoritism. We were all treated fairly, so we were all special and important in her eyes. I wish I could see her smile one more time and give her a big kiss and hug and tell her how much I love her. Mom, you will always be close in our hearts; we love you and miss you so very much. Thank You Lord for giving us the mother You did, and the opportunity that we may all be together again in Heaven with You.
