She was born in 1944 in Newark, NJ to William Michael Dougherty, Jr. and Marion Heinemann Dougherty. She lived in Smoke Rise, New Jersey; Newport Beach and Sacramento, CA; and Graham, St. Joseph, and Lees Summit, MO. She is survived by Joshua Moore, Mesa, AZ; Jessica Moore, Kansas City, MO; and Danielle Moore, Salt Lake, UT.
Gail graduated from Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT with a degree in Graphic Arts and worked in that field in New York City, California, and Missouri. She also farmed near Graham for 22 years.
Gail moved to John Knox Village in 2009, where she served and volunteered in various capacities. She was a Member of the Village Church at John Knox Village and enjoyed participating in several music and social groups, including Treble Clefs and Choraliers.
Between the ages of 54-69, Gail traveled to 13 countries for 19 mission trips. She had a passion for service work and ministry to women, sharing messages of love and hope. Once she could no longer travel internationally, she found adventure and a renewed love for the outdoors while camping and kayaking with close friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John Knox Village Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
