Flora (Flo) Elizabeth Carrington FLORA ELIZABETH (STOCK) CARRINGTON passed away on September 22, 2017 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 97. Flo was born to Wylie and Jenny Stock in Hadsell, Missouri on August7, 1920. She lived in Strasburg and Pleasant Hill, Missouri during her Elementary and Junior High School years. In 1933, Flo’s family moved to Jefferson City, Missouri where she attended and graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1937. On May 30, 1939, Flo married George H. (Red) Carrington and moved to Fulton, Missouri. Flo worked for the Rural Electric Cooperative Association (REA) in Fulton from 1948 until her retirement in 1985 after 37 years of service. In November 2011, Flo moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri to be closer to her family. Flo was a lifelong Democrat and an avid golfer. She belonged to the Calloway County Democratic Club and was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Her hobbies included ceramics, basket weaving, knitting and quilting. Flo was proceeded in death by her husband, George H. (Red) Carrington; her sister, Melba Reed Atwater; and by her parents Wylie and Jenny Stock. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Carrington Selby; her son-in-law, Fred Selby, both of Montross, VA; her granddaughter, Katy Selby Knoll and her husband Andrew both of Springfield VA; her grandson Tyler Selby and his wife, Emily of Lake Winnebago, MO; and by her great grandchildren, Riley and Tucker Selby and Gus and Lilly Knoll. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the John Knox Village Chapel at 400 N.W. Murry Rd in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
