
Doris was born on May 27, 1938, to Ted and Lola Elliott, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and compassion that she carried throughout her life. Doris had a remarkable ability to touch the hearts of all who knew her. From her early days in Forest City, she was known for her warm smile and generous spirit. She graduated from Forest City High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and began to shape her path of caring for others.
In 1959, Doris embarked on a new chapter when she married Tom Lewis. Together, they welcomed two wonderful children, Rebecca Lynn Lewis and Eric Dominic Lewis, who were the pride and joy of her life. Though Doris and Tom later parted ways, she continued to nurture a loving family environment for her children.
On November 17, 1990, Doris found love again and married James "Jim" Carrel, with whom she shared many happy years. Her family continued to grow, and she became a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, who brought immense happiness into her life.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Jim Carrel, her beloved parents, Ted and Lola Elliott, her sister Jean Swoboda, her brother Melvin Lynn Elliott, and her grandson, Bradford Monroe Dougherty.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca, her son Eric, her sister Joyce Dozier, and her brothers Norman and Mike Elliott. Doris also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Aunt Anne." Throughout her life, Doris had a profound love for her family and friends, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear. She treasured the moments spent with her loved ones, and her home was a welcoming haven for gatherings and celebrations. In honor of Doris's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
Doris Anne Carrel will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, and her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
