David was born March 20, 1954, to Forrest Wesley and Belle Marie (Shellenberger) Nash in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais High School in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He attended MidAmerica Nazarene College (now MidAmerica Nazarene University) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1976. David then went on to Nazarene Theological Seminary where he completed three years before taking his first church. During his twenty years of ministry he pastored in Muncy, PA.; Hermitage, TN.; Clinton, IL.; and Monte Vista, CO. He earned a Master’s degree in Church Management (1990) and Pastoral Counseling (1992) from Olivet Nazarene University and later received his Doctorate of Philosophy in 2000 from Pacific Western University.
Once leaving the pastorate, David worked for Nazarene Publishing House. He took early retirement, but in true David fashion, was unable to sit still for very long. He became a paraprofessional in the Olathe School District where he enjoyed coaching basketball and football.
David enjoyed many things in life. He loved all things Andy Griffith (if you know, you know), spending time with his family, his dog Beatrice, cheering on Finley and Sam in sports, and most recently taking ice cream trips in his vintage VW Beetle “Ruby” with Connie and Jojo.
David is survived by his wife Connie (Ring), son Zach (Danielle), and daughter Kaila (Nathan) Price. He is also survived by his three favorite grandchildren: Finley Nash (12), Samuel Nash (10), and Genevieve “Jojo” Nash (5); brother Edmond (Judy); sister Beverly (Ken) Christofferson; brother James (Joy); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
David was a 30-year liver transplant recipient and lived those 30 years to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, David would want you to consider organ donation. Please register at donatelife.net
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 10:00 AM at the Butler Church of the Nazarene in Butler, MO. Lunch will be provided.
