Connie was born on July 11, 1936 to Harold and Flavia Hanson in Minden, Louisiana. After graduating from Bossier City High School in 1954, she went on to study at Northwestern State University and East Texas Baptist College, eventually graduating with a BS in Nursing and later a masters in Health and Administration.
In her professional life, Connie worked as a nurse for doctors and clinics in Louisiana, Texas, California and eventually as a county health nurse in Wilson County, Kansas. She then worked as County Health Nurse Supervisor working with county health nurses and visiting every county in the state of Kansas. She was proud to have worked with the Vietnamese immigrants in Kansas when they came to America at the end of the Vietnam War. She retired from the Kansas Department of Health & Environment in 1998. Connie was very proud to be awarded the Dorothy Wooten Public Health Nurse Excellence Award in 1998. She was also a member of the Kansas Public Health Association.
After retirement, Connie married John Tamplin and they moved to Nixa, Missouri, Granbury, Texas, and eventually Fort Mitchell, Alabama. Connie and John liked to volunteer at Hood County Animal Shelter and Loaves & Fishes at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury.
Connie had many hobbies including reading and making quilts for herself and her family members. Connie loved her many dogs over the years and donated to several rescue organizations. She also enjoyed traveling visiting many countries such as Canada, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. She also traveled throughout the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.
Connie was predeceased by her brother, Harold Hanson, Jr. as well as her parents. She is survived by her brother, David (Jean) Hanson of Doyline, Louisiana; children, Denise (Jack) Bennett of Tecumseh, Kansas, and Danny (Alyson) Bailes of Neodesha, Kansas; grandchildren, Sean (Jasmine) Bennett, Samantha (Josh) Burrell, Ivan Bailes, Quinn (Jacqui) Bailes, Mariah (Josiah) Emmerling, and Paxton Bailes plus 11 great-grandchildren.
Connie will be remembered as being very generous and loving. There will be a family celebration of life at a later date.
