Coly Anne Jeffers Bryant, 77 years old, passed away on March 24th 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She was surrounded by her children & grandchildren. Coly was loved by many. She was a true force of steel will, avid book reader, lover of the beach, Jayhawk fan and above all else Coly loved to be surrounded by her family - especially her 11 grandchildren.
Coly was preceded in death by her parents, William and Colombia Jeffers, brother David Jeffers and loving husband Robert Bryant. Coly is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Robin Rutledge-Clarke. Coly leaves a legacy through her five children – Cara (Pete) Campbell, Aaron (Kelly) Bryant, Paul Bryant, Anna Brown, Kathleen (Megan) Bryant and her 11 grandchildren - Catelyn, William and Emma Campbell, Taylor Bryant, Adrienne Clark, Benjamin and Isabelle Bryant, Teddy and Emealia Brown, and Kasen & Wolfgang Homrighausen.
Coly was born in Key West, FL on January 16th, 1948. Coly proudly wore the badge of being a child of a Naval Commander; she spent her childhood travelling the globe living on naval bases. In 1966 Coly met Robert on campus at the University of Kansas. Four years later, they were married, before graduation, and settled in Kansas City, MO.
Coly was a long-time, proud professional at H&R Block. During retirement, Coly spent many afternoons tutoring at Cristo Rey High School & as a CASA advocate. Most notably, Coly was an AVID bridge player. She was a member of a rowdy & raucous bridge group for over 40 years. All her children have hilarious memories of the bridge group coming over on Tuesday evenings. These women were Coly’s nearest and dearest life-long friends.
Our family lost our shining matriarch and are devastated by her loss. Coly was a true original and is irreplaceable. She instilled strong family values & traditions that we intend to continue throughout our lives. Coly was extraordinary in all ways, and she will be missed beyond measure.
