Born on March 31, 1947 in Lees Summit, Missouri Charlie grew up on the shores of Lake Lotawana. He graduated from Lees Summit High School in 1965 and by 1967 enlisted in the US Navy where he served for the Navel Security Group in Bremerhaven Germany working in signals intelligence. He returned to Kansas City in 1971 and completed his associates degree at Penn Valley, going on to work at Foley-Belsaw for over 30 years where he would meet his wife of 42 years, Tarigene (Tari). He would have a second career with the Internal Revenue Service before retiring in 2019.
Charlie was known for his sharp sense of humor, keen intelligence, firm sense of responsibility, dedication to his family, and love for all things Kansas City. He was beloved by his friends and family and his absence is profoundly felt.
He is survived by his wife Tari; his sons Brian (wife Samantha), Keith, and Michael (wife Kristin); and his six grandchildren Nicholas, Kelsie, Joshua, Emily, Chloe, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his father Chet and mother Martha.
A memorial service will take place this summer at the Higginsville Veterans Cemetery. The exact date will be announced at a later time.
