Born on August 6, 1944, to his mother, Wilma Gertrude Grayson Dozier and father, Cecil Bernard Dozier. Cecil lived a life of devotion to family and kindness toward his neighbors. He was married to his wife Linda Dozier for 48 years. He was a loving dad to his two girls, Tess Dykes and Kim White. He is also remembered by his older brother, Alfred; sister, Lucy; his younger brothers, Richard and Dwight; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father and eight siblings.
He loved worshipping along with Southern Gospel songs and found joy in simple pleasures, including sitting in the sun on his porch with neighbors and feeding squirrels. He was always ready to help someone in need, whether by mowing lawns, fixing porch rails, or sharing a loaf of fresh bread he made from scratch.
He enjoyed sharing stories about his life growing up in a family with 12 siblings, his high school football days, his years working at Santa Fe and the more than 20 years he coached girls’ fastpitch softball.
A service for Cecil Laverne Dozier will be held on October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Park Christian Church in Topeka, Kansas.
He will be remembered for his faith in Jesus, his extraordinary generosity, and his silly songs.
He faithfully supported Global Mission and Youth With a Mission missionary Abigail White.
