Carolyn Augusta Fendley

Carolyn Augusta Fendley, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on January 8, 2025, in Belton, MO. She was born on May 4, 1937, in Rio Hondo, TX, to Arthur Hockett and Marjorie Wohlgemuth.

Carolyn retired from GNB in Mississippi after 33 years as a forklift operator and attended 2 years at Hinds Community College while employed there. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening. Carolyn had the best sense of humor, brightening every room she entered and was full of life until her last days. She was a wonderful mother and sister; she loved her grandkids and great grandkids more than anything and was a cherished friend to many.

She is survived by her children Sandra (Ty) Patmore of Grandview, MO; Terry Simmons and George (Deanna) Weddle, both of Belton, MO; grandchildren Gary Smith, Russell Keith (Dennette) Smith, Richard (Candace) Weddle, Alicia Westcott, Ashley Weddle, Christopher Weddle, Allison (Josh) Mishmash, Stephen (Tami) Weddle, Michael (Sherry) Patmore, Tabitha Weddle, George (Nichole) Weddle II, and Tiffany (Naomi) Akins; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings Dennison (Connie) Hockett of Long Branch, TX; Marilyn (Virgil) Johnson of Richmond, MO; and Martin (Mary Kathleen) Hockett of Warsaw, MO; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Clyde Oliver Weddle Sr. (C.O.); her last husband, Melvin Fendley; her son, Clyde Oliver Weddle Jr.; great-grandson, Russell K. Smith II; parents, Arthur Hockett and Marjorie Wohlgemuth; and siblings, Arthur Hockett II, Benjamin Hockett, and George Hockett.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25th, at 2:00 PM at the Grandview Church of the Nazarene, located at 1500 Highgrove Rd, Grandview, MO 64030. To honor Carolyn's memory, charitable contributions may be made to the Grandview Church of the Nazarene.
