Warren Leigh Cloven August 2, 1938 - July 20, 2017 Warren Cloven, currently of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of Laguna Niguel, California, passed away in the care of hospice after a brief, but courageous battle. He is survived by his current wife, Wanda, his first wife, Jerrilee, their four children, Leigh, Peter, Kacy, Patrick and their spouses and nine grandchildren. He also leaves behind many cousins, friends and his brother Elmer “Bud” Cloven. He was born in Downey, California to Elmer and Dorothy Cloven; the youngest of three boys. He graduated from Compton High School and attended Occidental College. He married Jerrilee in 1960. Together they were active in politics, hoping to help make the world a better place. Warren and Jerri moved their family to Laguna Niguel in 1969 when there were approximately 5,000 residents. Together they raised their children old school, with love and discipline. Discussions after the family dinner ranged from religion to dirty jokes and are remembered with smiles. He was active in many family oriented organizations including, little league, YMCA, Sheppard of the Hills UCC church, and marriage encounter. Warren is fondly remembered by many men he coached as young boys. Warren was a consummate salesman, always striving for success and doing whatever was necessary to support his family. Warren married Wanda in 2005. They moved from Canada where it was too cold to New Mexico where it was too dusty and finally settling in Jacksonville, Florida where it was just right. He loved his life there with his wife and dachshunds, the newest puppy, Coco Chanel. He had taken up cooking with zeal and was excited to share a new recipe or method he had learned. He made many good friends in the community and enjoyed playing bridge. The beaches in Florida and body surfing in the Atlantic gave him great pleasure. He was always anxious to share his new life with visiting friends and family. In Jacksonville, Warren found peace. We all learned many lessons from Warren and sayings, we affectionately call “Warrenisms”, that we will carry with us and pass along. The measure of a man’s success in life is not in the things he collects, but in the way he affects the lives of others. With that, Warren was more successful in this life than he ever knew. Go get ‘em red rider. For now, we will blow a bubble. A Celebration of Warren's life will be 1pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Summerland Hall 9039 Del Webb Parkway, Jacksonville, Fl 32256. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Community Hospice of NorthEast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
