Terry L McMullen

Terry L. McMullen of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the age of 72. Terry was born on June 29, 1945. He grew up in Akron, OH with his brother Gene and his mother, Helen Gaines Smart. He attended Buchtel High School and Kent State University. He met his future wife, Barbara Crossen, through a mutual friend in November of 1965. They were married at St. Mary's church in Peninsula, OH on January 14, 1967 and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year. Terry's quick wit and ability to logically convey ideas lent itself well to a career in sales and marketing. By the time he retired in 2000 at the age of 55, he had been running sales and marketing organizations for large companies for years. Terry appreciated his retirement years the most. His greatest joy was being involved with his grandchildren -- he refereed contests, he played games with them in the swimming pool, he built his granddaughters a fort and then was the only person who had to pay an admission fee. He even changed his personal appearance to suit them… when he was informed by his granddaughter that she didn't want to kiss him with his moustache, he shaved it the same day. When he wasn't with the children, he enjoyed long-distance motorcycle riding, touring the US, and anything having to do with the ocean, including walking the beach and sailing. Terry is survived by his wife, Barbara Crossen McMullen; his only son, Christopher McMullen (Shannon); his brother, Gene McMullen (Carolyn Leibowitz); his sisters-in-law, Jean Smith (Bob) and Mary Jo Musarro (Jamie); his grandchildren Kathryn McMullen, Caroline McMullen, Jillian Rash, and Kyle Rash; his nieces and nephews Kelly Haas (Nick), Jennifer Clements (Tim), Katie Musarro (Matt Stevens), Michael Musarro (Amanda), Adam Musarro, and Joseph Musarro. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Raymond "Bud" Crossen. There will be no calling hours. The family will host a celebration of life gathering at a later date. Neptune Society is in charge of his arrangements.
