Ted Wayne Shell

Ted Shell, 88, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on June 20, 1937, in Docena, Alabama, Ted lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep love for adventure and sports.

From a young age, Ted demonstrated a strong sense of duty and patriotism. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1959. His years in the military shaped his character and instilled in him values of discipline, integrity, and resilience that he carried throughout his life.

Ted was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat Shell. Together they built a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. He was a cherished father to six children: Hope Kavalow, Denise Shell, Kim Kennedy, Rita Brown, Tommy Ryan, Billy Ryan, Randy Shell, and Rodney Shell. His legacy continues through his large and loving family that includes 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and he was predeceased by his loving daughter Kim Willett.

Known for his kind heart and thoughtful nature, Ted touched the lives of all who knew him. He was deeply committed to his family and took great joy in spending time with them—whether gathered around the dinner table or cheering from the sidelines at sporting events.

A passionate fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ted rarely missed an opportunity to support his favorite team. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond fandom; he loved attending games and sharing those experiences with loved ones. In addition to sports, Ted found joy in camping and traveling—activities that allowed him to explore new places while creating lasting memories with those closest to him.

Ted’s presence brought comfort and joy to many. His gentle spirit and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
