Richard Henry Moller, 92 years old, who resided at Brookdale Senior Living, Jacksonville, FL, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2016, in his home. Richard was born in Quincy, IL on February 14, 1924 to Gladys and Cyril Moller.
Richard served in WWII in the Merchant Marines, and after an honorable discharge worked as a radio operator for TWA Airlines until he secured a position with ABC TV as a camera man. Eventually he worked as a video engineer traveling all over the world to televise the Winter Olympics, sports events on ABC’s Wide World of Sports, and covered Presidential Conventions and Inaugurations. Mr. Moller won 3 Emmys for his camera work.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Lila, with whom he retired and moved to Florida, and two brothers, Steve Moller and Robert Moller. Richard and his wife enjoyed many cruises around the world. He was an avid fisherman and a boat owner. He served as the Captain of the Yacht Club where he lived at Tropic Bay Condominiums in Delray Beach, Florida.
He is survived by two children, Janice Bradley, who lives in Jacksonville, FL, and Richard Moller, Jr. (“Ricky”), residing in Mahwah, NJ; 3 granddaughters, Christi Bennett and Leah Putnam, who live in Jacksonville, FL and Chelsea Bennett, who lives in Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by one great granddaughter, Ivie Putnam of Jacksonville, and one nephew, Stephen Ray Moller, son of his brother Steve, who lives in Orlando, FL.
Celebration of Richard’s life will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road; Jacksonville, Florida 32218. Neptune Society is in charge of his arrangements
