Im sorry for your loss , is this rick who use to work at portraits in pastel at knotts berry farm ? It was also called Bells studio . If so I worked with rick and was looking for him I only remember him with brown eyes and hair ,and he smoked . He was a shy gentle guy who my dad really liked and so did every one else . I first met Rick, when I was in charge of the Cable Cars at Knotts Berry Farm, in the early 70's.  I was soon sucked into his group of eclectic friends.  We found out we had played music in several places, up and down the So. Cal. coast throughout the 70's, only weeks apart. We became fast friends, and in 1980, with lovely Doris, we took a 2 week trip thru the jungles and beaches of Cancun.  In 1982, he talked me into moving into a house on his new property, in So. Oregon.  And 3 years later, sold it all to me, when he went to Australia.  I first met Filip, when I visited Rick in Portland, Oregon.   And flew to New Orleans to see them, and the Rolling Stones around 1997.  Over a year ago, he came and stayed in our house, and we talked all night, about all we had been through, over the 43 years, we had know each other.  He was more than just a friend, more than even a brother.  He is, and will always be, in my heart.  And I know he was blessed to have Filip in his, as well.  

Rick became my neighbor when he moved to Oregon and he quickly became a good friend. I was a young kid when he moved in and having a neighbor like Rick was like a blast from the big city. I remember he used to make a great grilled cheese and always lemons for his cokes. We hand many adventures around our neck of the woods in a little jeep that Rick had bought. The last time I saw Rick, I took my wife over to meet him and he didn't disappoint. He had a great laugh and could definitely entertain. I had many great discussions about life with Rick and always valued his opinion. Rest in peace my good friend. 
Filip, my thoughts are with you.

We first met Rick when he moved into a little house on the river in Days Creek. He was witty & honest & sooo talented. He loved living in the country.  My husband Amos, who is the mailman, was blessed enough to have received a personal piece of artwork depicting him on his rounds from Rick. We have it proudly displayed in our home. Rick will be missed by so many. Our thoughts & prayers are with you Filip.

Rick was such an incredible man with amazing talent and a keen wit. I met Rick while working at Knott's. His design office was close to my office and we used to park our motorcycles together (mid 70's). I will never forget the day he moved to the country--Days Creek OR. He was done working and getting out to the fresh air and country life. Little did he know at the time that people would call on him from all over the world to do design projects.  HIs little country home was complete with pigs, goats and a drawing table. We had some amazing visits over the years at all of his various homes.  Love you my dear friend and I will miss you greatly---all our conversations about morals, ethics and the world. Laughing at how crazy people are.  You will always be in my heart---Rest in Peace and If you have time send us all a little drawing of heaven!

Rick was an amazing man and will be truly missed. My husband and I met him more then 45 years ago and we have hundreds of wonderful memories. We will miss your caring, your quick witt, music, art and the all around great guy you were to all who knew you. Rest In Peace sweet Rick..until we meet again... 4th floor.

I met rick when I was a sophmore at Merced high school.. he was a senior and a new student. He was truly sweet and kind... he was fun and loved to dance.  I saw him years later at a combined high school reunion... I will always remember Him.... RIP dear Rick Campbell

Rick and I have been friends for over 50 years.  The laughter that we shared was amazing...right up until days before he passed we were laughing about old times.  Rick was a fantastic musician and artist.  He just bubbled over with talent.  One of his best talents surely was being a true friend.  I lived in Merced when he was there and then in LA during the 60's when he worked at Knotts Berry Farm.   I want Filip to know that my friendship extends to him whenever he wants to connect with Rick's old friend.  Rick..we'll meet again my friend and make heavenly music someday.  For now rest.

I met Rick when he came to our house looking for a guitar player for his new group, Called The Brogues  We lost contact for a while but connected again about 10years ago.  He came to California to visit family and I was able to visit with as he came through.  We had a great visit 3 years ago.  At that time I gave him a duplicate copy of the scrapbook I had put together for the Brogues.  A lot of history there.  I've kept in contact on e-mail and was sorry to here of his illness.  I will miss you dear friend, may you rest in peace.

Dearest Rick, you were a one of a kind friend. You were the glue that kept the unique people from Design 27 together. I treasure the tree house drawing you gave us as I'm sure all the others do who were lucky enough to get one of your personalized imaginative drawings. It is my joy and sorrow that we were able to spend a few short days together last year. You and gentle Filip were special, special, special to me and to all who knew you. We were and always will be connected. Thank you for being in my life and bringing your twinkle to all of us.

What a joy it was to work with Rick at Silver Dollar City and again recently on some creative projects in the Branson area. I will miss his wonderful sense of humor, his creative genius and his positive attitude. What a warm and wonderful man.

Met Rick and Fil in the Ozarks.  Rick was so talented...his art....music...sense of humor just to name a few.  Sorry we did not make a trip to Florida to visit.  I will miss you.  Love you my friend.  Helen & Richard

Ranger Rick and I were friends for..... at least 42 years.  We had some great adventures during his time at Knott's Berry Farm and through the years.  He was a true adventurer... and couldn't stay in one place very long.  Life was to be explored and he did that with zeal and the love for living.  Trips to Three Rivers in his jeep, playing Risk on the glass top table in Stanton, will never be forgotten.  The drawings he sent me are a part of his legacy as the exceptional artist he was.  I will cherish them always. Filip was the love of his life though it took him some time to figure that out.  Filip and Rick shared a special bond that many in this life never find.  We are all so blessed to have known Rick for the love of life he shared with us all.  His spirit lives with all of us who knew him.

Thanks to Rolly Crump, Rick, Wendy, Luann, Doris, Carol and I shared a magical, albeit short time working together at Design 27.  That was nearly 45 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday.  I haven't seen any of these friends in more than 35 years, I thought there would always be time for visiting when we grew old, things don't always work out the way you think they will, maybe there is still time, I don't know, but they will always be my friends and to see them, I just close my eyes and I can see them with my heart.

I had the honor and privlage to be uncle ricky great nice and even through my life we had not always keep in touch the last few years of his life we connected and stayed back in contact he was a very talented friendly man liked and loved by many he would encounter he will be greatly missed but I am very thankful and WI r forget the talks and memories that we had and enjoyed together they will stay on with me forever love you much uncle ruck misa you

Uncle Rick, you were such a great person and artist.  I always looked forward to our visits.  Now I will look forward to our great visit someday.  You will be sorely missed and always loved....

I first met Rick at Design 27 in 1972. He was such a gifted illustrator and designer. He was a great story teller and he had his own wisdom on everything. He made friends everywhere he went. I am so glad you were in my life. I will miss you Rick, you were one-of-a- kind and the world will not be the same without you.

In Bisbee, Arizona, where I met Rick and Fil as managers of Your Thrift Store, Rick was known as Mr. Ebullience, a name that seemed to fit him perfectly.  He enjoyed life SO much!  He would throw off little sayings like Life is good  in the middle of what he was saying.  A great and welcoming person who always appreciated his friends and his sweet Filip.  He could fix a great margarita. A life well-lived.

Sadly I didn't meet Rick as soon as I would have liked, nor did I get to spend as much time with him as would have been perfect.  However, the little time I did get to spend with Rick was fantastic, his humor, his interests, his talent were all so wonderful.  I loved Rick even though I only got to meet his briefly, we did correspond via email, I say correspond when mostly we exchanged jokes, cartoons, and other silliness.  I'll miss him a lot. I met Rick in Orlando in 1973 when he was project manager for Circus World. This man was so truly talented and had a very profound impact on my life. I visited Rick and Filip several times in Flagler Beach and all around the country.His perspective on life would make anyone laugh and feel positive when you were around him. I will always be thankful for our friendship and his generosity for sharing so much. One awesome man!Aloha Rick!

I knew Rick for many years, since junior college in the 1960's.  I look back fondly on all the laughs we had together, and the fine friendship we developed over the years.  He was a very talented man, and he has left a legacy of his art and design.  I will miss him.

We knew Rick from Circus World and Knott's Berry Farm where we all worked together in the 1970's, and maintained our friendship afterwards, seeing Rick just a couple of years ago at his home in Oregon and later at Ken Knott's home in Boulder City, Nevada.  He was a talented artist and a joy and pleasure to know.

Rick and I were best of friends for many years, he was the reason I moved from LA to Oregon. We played music for many years together, we had a terrific sound and at times were one mind and soul. Rick always enjoyed our family and my wife Marisa. Rick and I also had a work relationship as I commissioned him for drawings and detail work with the Roseburg Schools and Douglas County. We were so glad we got to see him last April, I miss him now and will forever, rest in peace brother
