Patricia Glenn Brooks

Patricia Glenn Brooks passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2024, at the age of 90, she was born in Henderson, NC. Preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Catherine Brooks Batten, age 36, son, William Glenn Brooks, age 49, husbands, William Cooper Brooks, Jr (1990) and William P Miller (2012). Surviving members are her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Brad Bloom, Grandson & wife, Steven & Allison Smiley, Granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Brooks, and Great grandchildren, Aiden & Nora Smiley.

A Graduate of Women’s College of Greensboro, now known as Univ of North Carolina. Patricia married William Cooper Brooks, Jr. and they spent the first years overseas with the US Army and upon leaving military life they settled in Georgia. In the 1960’s they became interested in breeding and showing Irish Setters. Bayberry Kennel became internationally known as having some of the finest Irish Setters in the world. She was the corresponding secretary of the Irish Setter Club of America for many years.

When her first husband passed in 1990, she decided to return to North Carolina and settled in Pine Knoll Shores. There she met her second husband, William P. Miller in 1996. They enjoyed their retirement years in Morehead City, NC until Bill passed away in 2012. She spent her remaining years in Fleming Island, Florida near her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Brad Bloom.

She loved to read. She was an avid reader of History, Biographies, Religious, and Spiritual novels. Her intelligence and compassion showed in all she did. One thing that everyone will say about Patricia is that “She made everyone feel that they were important.”
