Marilyn Jean Beierle Paquin

She was the beloved wife of James E. Paquin, who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her three daughters, Josette P Fabre, Suzanne M Paquin and Margot P Carpenter; two sons-in-law, David H Fabre and Charles K Carpenter; six grandchildren, Russel P Fabre, James Hunter Gates Rauhofer, Marie J Carpenter, Peter E Fabre, Anna M Carpenter and Olivia C Carpenter; and a granddaughter-in-law, Abigail W Fabre.

Marilyn grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she swam, ice skated and showed an early knack for numbers. As a young woman she struck out for San Diego, working as a lifeguard where she met the love of her life, Jim Paquin. They married in 1965 and soon shipped out to Japan, beginning a life of travel that carried them to Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, D.C., and Stennis Space Center in Mississippi as she practiced accounting and Jim served his country.

Marilyn and Jim called Slidell, Louisiana home for many years, where Marilyn was an inspirational swim coach in addition to her accounting career. She earned top scores on the CPA exam and built a distinguished career as a CPA with a Big Eight accounting firm in New Orleans. She later joined Jim at Neptune Sciences, Inc. to run the financial side of their defense contracting business. She moved to Florida after hurricane Katrina and worked in tax and accounting nearly to the end of her life in a career she loved.

Marilyn loved her family, the beach, Top Gun movies, and her country. She will be sorely missed.

At her request, Marilyn’s family held a private service and she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell Louisiana.
