Lawrence “Larry” A. Rollason Jr, 45, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away June 25, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center South. Born in Elizabeth City, NC, Larry is the son of Dorothy Ann (Barron) and the late Lawrence A. Rollason, Sr.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Masters in History, Larry loved learning and teaching. First as a middle school teacher and coach in the Arlington, TX, and later as teacher and athletic director at Southside Middle School in Jacksonville, FL. He also taught on-line courses at Jones College; worked for Jewish Family Services and, as an investigator for the Department of Children and Family Services. His was a full and interesting life.
Larry loved musicals and theatrical productions; movies and mind challenging games such as Trivial Pursuit; video games and life in general. He was as likely to engage in a discussion with a complete stranger as he was a friend, co-worker or family member. Although those who knew him best often referred to these as debates and arguments.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence A. Rollason, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Barron; paternal grandparents, Robert and Mabel Rollason.
He leaves many who will cherish his memory, including, his mother, Dorothy Ann Rollason; sister, Stacey R. Austin and spouse, Michael; uncles and aunts, Bill & Martha Barron, John & Bettye Young, and Evelyn Rollason; extended family and a plethora of friends; and the family dogs - Maggie, Sam and Duke. All will miss him dearly.
The family extends a very special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Baptist South Medical Center for their professionalism, kindness and compassionate care during this most difficult time. And, to the staff at the DaVita Dialysis Center at Regency, for your kindness, patience and caring over the past nine years.
And to Dr. Dinesh…thank you and God bless you!
