Lawrence James Babbitt

LAWRENCE JAMES BABBITT was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 21, 1940. Growing up he loved and participated in numerous sports. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Bridgeport and played on the varsity basketball team. After college, he began a career in insurance and worked for companies like Foster Grant and Stop n Shop. Larry also in the Honor Guard when he served in the United States Coast Guard.

Always dreaming of moving to Florida, he found the opportunity in Clearwater, Florida and accepted the position of risk manager for Eckerd Drugs. Eventually he decided to join the brokerage side of the business and accepted positions with Marsh & McClennan, A&A and Aon. He handled such major accounts as Bealls Department Stores his beloved Tampa Bay Rays.

Larry continued his love of sports playing golf and tennis throughout his life. He actually met his wife on a tennis court in 1985 and they were married June 3, 1986.

Known for his humor and bigger than life personality, he will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Sherry, his two children Joshua Babbitt and Rebecca Babbitt, his stepson Gene Williams as well as his grandchildren Jack & Lucy Kovacich and Kayley & Abby Williams. And, of course his two dogs Lily and Sammy.
