Judy graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD. She worked as a Librarian for the City of Franklin Library, Paul D. Camp Community College Library, and Southampton Academy Library.
Judy was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Gaston in North Carolina and she spent many summers there with her grandchildren, family and friends. Judy enjoyed hobbies such as tennis, mahjong, card games, reading, and tending to her many plants. Being a major part of her grandchildren’s lives was one of Judy’s greatest joys. She hardly ever missed sporting events, performances, and other special occasions. Nothing made her happier than her family and she openly gave them the gift of wisdom and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Bradley Berry and James Henry Berry.
Judy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Francis D. Brooke; daughter, Berry Payne (Joe), son, Tommy Brooke, daughter, Francy Robertson (Matt); grandchildren, Emily P. Mader (Greg), Will Robertson (Kyndall), Brooke R. Peele (Brian), Ralston Brooke (Caroline), Arch Brooke; great-grandchildren, Carter Mader and Mullaney Mader.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital and Community Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Judy in her final days.
