He had a lifelong love of aircraft and served as the crew chief in the U.S. Navy on a P2V Neptune during the Cold War, surveilling enemy submarines to keep our nation safe. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Delta Airlines for thirty years and could name aircraft in the sky by their sound. His love of mechanics extended to antique cars and he restored a few. He was an enthusiastic member of the Amelia Island Cruizers.
He loved sports and was an avid Penn State fan. He was an active man who played golf and ran countless road races, including a marathon.

He sang with the Amelia Baptist Church Community Choir and the Island Chamber Singers (ICS) for many years and felt privileged to sing in an ICS concert at Carnegie Hall.
He was very proud of his family and leaves behind his devoted wife, Karen; sister, Patricia Weidenhamer; loving children, Jeff (Judy) Weber; Jeanne (Mark) Bednash; and Karen (Wayne) Franklin. He was Pap Pap to his grandchildren, Eric (Brooke) Bednash; Katy (Josh) Mullet; Mason Bednash; Andrew Weber; and Jack (Maddie) Weber and great grandchildren, Jacob Young; Oakley Mullet; and Teddy Weber.
